Though, as always, it was too short, we had a fun-filled Labor Day weekend! On Saturday we spent the evening with our friends Mia and Joe and their new baby boy who is just a few days older than Harper. We had such a fun time meeting Liam, and what a great way to do our first family outing to a friend's house than to visit another newborn: we're all in the same boat! The most amazing occurrence from the night was that somehow, some way, both kiddos quieted down and let four new parents sit together for at least a solid 20 minutes to eat dinner together. Simply amazing. A few pics from the evening: the dads holding their chattering kiddos, a solo shot of precious Liam and one of Liam and his gorgeous mommy Mia.

Here are two of Daniel and Harper to illustrate a costume change. True story ... up until that evening we had made it without any diaper leakages in the Ballard family. But we are at the point where we're kinda between diaper sizes, so we went up to size one that evening. In the course of just a few hours, Harper managed to poop AND pee on me. Separate times. Classic. Good thing we were with other parents! And my lesson from the night is that I need to add a Tide pen or Shout wipes or something to my diaper bag, just in case that happens in a less friendly environment.

Sunday our friends Chantel and Jorge came over and we strolled to Eastern Market to get some fresh air and to get some meat for the grill (mmmmm kebabs!).

The rest of the evening was pretty low key. Then today it was kinda rainy ... and Harper was kinda sleepy ... so there was just a lot of napping and snuggling and then bathtime, taking advantage of some quality time with all of us together. One photo highlight was Harper's Minnie Mouse onesie -- inaugural wearing this weekend!
We're sad that it's over, but luckily we have something to look forward to: mom will be here to visit in less than 12 hours! We can't wait!
